Witchlore
Client: Dazzling Bookish Shop Published: Not Yet Announced
For this project I was hired to create a special edition cover including a full hardcover wrap and sprayed edges for the YA fantasy title ‘Witchlore’ by Emma Hinds. The novel follows a non-binary shapeshifter who is not entirely in control of their powers, as they reckon with their grief after the death of their girlfriend.
Inspired by the novel and its characters, I included lots of easter eggs here: The patterns that form the magic are inspired by sashiko, a form of visible mending for clothes, as the protagonist is a creative and colourful character who is working on healing themselves after a loss; The composition is framed in an arch shape resembling a gravestone, as the whole story revolves around the intention to bring someone back from the dead; and you can see a representation of all four of the bodies the protagonist finds themself in throughout the book!
Begin Again
Client: Morgan J. Salido Published: Not Yet Announced
For ‘Begin Again’ by Morgan J. Salido, I worked directly wtih the author to produce thumbnails inspired by a Victorian gothic aesthetic, featuring a strong, morally grey protagonist, who made a deal with a God to garner more time to live- a redo. Inspred by light novels, and fantasy titles like ‘Long Live Evil’ by Sarah Rees-Brennan, I worked to create an intricately detailed cover with an intensely classic image of a woman sat on her throne, glaring directly at the viewer.
For this title I was hired for a full paperback wrap, as you can see below.
Not Your Cupcake
Client: Annie Waye Published: 01/08/2025
For ‘Not Your Cupcake’ I worked with Annie Waye to create a contemporary romance cover inspired by books like Ali Hazelwood’s ‘Not In Love’, Bal Khabra’s ‘Collide’ and the plethora of wonderfully cute romance covers that have been filling the shelves in recent years. I wanted to create a playful and exciting pose that would show the couple’s dynamic and create a lot of romantic tension!
